Soul Sessions Podcast with Amanda Rieger Green
Why do we keep assuming someone else knows better than we do?
It is a question worth sitting with, especially in a world overflowing with information, opinions, experts, influencers, teachers, technologies, institutions, and algorithms offering us answers at every turn.
In this episode of Soul Sessions, Amanda Rieger Green explores one of the most subtle and pervasive patterns of the human experience: our tendency to look outside ourselves for truth.
Not for information.
Not for education.
Not for perspective.
But for certainty.
For permission.
For validation.
For relief from the discomfort of not knowing.
This episode is an invitation to examine what Amanda calls our collective “external hunger”—the instinct to search beyond ourselves for the answer, the authority, the system, the teacher, the institution, the expert, or even the artificial intelligence that can finally tell us what is true.
But the deeper question is this:
What happens when the search for truth outside of ourselves becomes a way of abandoning the wisdom already alive within us?
Human beings have long been conditioned to assume that truth lives somewhere “above” us.
At the top of the pyramid.
Inside the institution.
Behind closed doors.
Within secret systems.
In the hands of someone with more access, more power, more credentials, more knowledge, or more authority.
There is nothing inherently wrong with learning from others. Wisdom can absolutely come through teachers, mentors, guides, books, systems, and lived experience. But the distortion begins when we assume that someone else’s knowing is automatically more valid than our own.
This is where discernment becomes essential.
Because there is a difference between seeking wisdom and outsourcing sovereignty.
There is a difference between receiving support and asking someone else to define your reality.
There is a difference between expanding your perspective and abandoning your inner authority.
In this episode, Amanda explores how easily the human mind can become fascinated by hidden knowledge, secret access, elite information, and the belief that “someone else must know.” Beneath that fascination is often a much more vulnerable truth: we are uncomfortable with uncertainty.
One of the clearest themes in this episode is the distinction between information and relief.
We live in a time when information is immediate, constant, and endless. We can search anything. Ask anything. Compare anything. Analyze anything. There is always another perspective, another interpretation, another expert, another post, another podcast, another answer.
But more information does not always create more clarity.
Sometimes, more information creates more fragmentation.
The mind may say, “I just need to know more.”
But the body may be saying, “I need to feel safe.”
The nervous system may be saying, “I need to slow down.”
The soul may be saying, “I already know what is true, but I am afraid to trust it.”
This is the deeper spiritual inquiry of the episode. When we are grasping for answers, are we actually seeking truth? Or are we seeking relief from the discomfort of our own inner knowing?
Amanda invites listeners to recognize the difference between genuine curiosity and compulsive searching. Curiosity opens consciousness. Grasping contracts it.
One expands the field.
The other tightens the grip.
Drawing from the wisdom of the Gene Keys, this episode explores the movement from Dullness to Fluorescence.
Dullness is not stupidity. It is not a lack of intelligence. It is the state of consciousness that emerges when we become disconnected from the vitality of our own inner life.
Dullness can look like over-consuming information without integrating it.
It can look like asking everyone else what they think before checking in with yourself.
It can look like intellectualizing your growth while your body is asking for presence.
It can look like scrolling, comparing, researching, analyzing, and still feeling no closer to truth.
Fluorescence, by contrast, is an inner radiance. It is the aliveness that returns when we stop trying to force certainty and begin relating differently to the unknown.
It is the magnetic energy that emerges when the system unclenches.
It is not passive.
It is not vague.
It is not spiritual bypassing.
It is the frequency of a human being who is no longer outsourcing their relationship with truth.
A major thread in this episode is the physical and energetic impact of the time we are living through.
As global intelligence, technology, collective consciousness, and social systems accelerate, the human body is carrying an enormous load. Our nervous systems are processing more information, more stimulation, more uncertainty, and more energetic complexity than ever before.
This is why grounding is not optional.
It is not a luxury.
It is not a spiritual accessory.
It is not something to do after everything else is handled.
Grounding is how we remain intact.
Amanda speaks to the importance of giving the body credit. The body is not “behind.” The body is not an inconvenience. The body is often the first place truth begins to speak.
Fatigue may be communication.
Resistance may be communication.
Tension may be communication.
A need for stillness may be communication.
The desire to retreat, simplify, or clear your field may be communication.
When the world speeds up, the body often asks us to slow down—not because we are failing, but because we are integrating.
One of the most powerful invitations in this episode is learning how to float in uncertainty rather than swim upstream.
The human mind often wants to solve, fix, define, label, and secure. It wants to know what is happening, what it means, where it is going, and what the outcome will be. But the soul often evolves through a different kind of intelligence.
Sometimes the next step is not more force.
Sometimes the next step is allowing.
Sometimes the next step is not finding the answer, but changing your relationship to the question.
This is especially important as we move through the energetic acceleration of July and August. The pace of change is increasing. The collective field is intensifying. Many people are feeling the pressure to know what is next, define who they are becoming, and secure a sense of certainty before they are actually ready.
But what if uncertainty is not the enemy?
What if uncertainty is the threshold?
What if the unknown is not a void to escape, but a field to learn how to move through with greater presence, trust, and internal coherence?
This episode also offers practical reminders for caring for your energy field during intense periods of growth and acceleration.
The practices do not need to be complicated. In fact, simplicity is part of the medicine.
You may need to step outside and put your feet on the earth.
You may need to drink more water.
You may need to breathe deeply and slowly.
You may need to clear your space.
You may need to spend less time consuming other people’s thoughts.
You may need to pause before asking someone else what they think.
You may need to place a hand on your body and ask, “What do I already know?”
These small acts matter because they return you to yourself.
They interrupt the pattern of external grasping.
They create space between stimulus and response.
They help your nervous system recognize that it does not have to chase every answer.
In a world moving faster and faster, your capacity to pause is a spiritual technology.
This episode is not about isolation. It is not about rejecting teachers, communities, guidance, experts, or support.
We are not meant to walk through this global shift alone.
Being witnessed matters. Community matters. Honest reflection matters. There is tremendous healing in having someone hold space for your becoming without taking your authority away from you.
The key is to seek support that strengthens your inner knowing rather than replaces it.
The right spaces do not make you dependent.
They help you become more coherent.
They help you hear yourself more clearly.
They remind you of what your soul already knows.
This is the distinction Amanda returns to throughout the episode: we do not need to reject the external world. We need to transform our relationship with it.
The deeper invitation of “Why We Look Outside Ourselves for Truth” is to notice where you are still searching for someone else to give you permission to know what you know.
Where are you still assuming truth lives somewhere above you?
Where are you asking for certainty when your soul is asking for trust?
Where are you consuming more information because you are afraid to sit with what has already been revealed?
This is not about becoming rigid or self-enclosed. It is about becoming internally sourced.
It is about learning to engage the world without losing your center.
It is about allowing wisdom to come through teachers, systems, signs, synchronicities, conversations, and technologies—while still remembering that your deepest relationship with truth must be cultivated within.
Because the question is no longer simply, “Who has the answer?”
The deeper question is:
Can you remain connected to yourself while the answer is still becoming clear?
In this episode of Soul Sessions with Amanda Rieger Green, Amanda explores external hunger, the illusion of the external expert, the Gene Keys movement from Dullness to Fluorescence, nervous system calibration, summer energy care, and the importance of being witnessed during this time of rapid human evolution.
