September 2020 – Your body is the gateway to your “why.”

Over the next few months, I’m going to be doing a series designed to support you in creating clarity, in believing, knowing, and expressing your ever-evolving personal meaning.

~The who, what, where, when and why of yourself and your soul, today.

  • Who you are {your identity}

  • What you want {your vision}

  • Where you thrive {your vitality}

  • When you desire {your inspiration}

  • Why you are {your meaning}

Your power lives in the clarity of your presence. Over the next few months I will help you get clear and present in your body, mind, emotions, and spirit to better know yourself, create a stronger internal foundation and an overall greater sense of meaning in your life.

What I’m sharing with you is Soul Pathology. It’s how I work with my human and spiritual toolkit, sustain a deeper meaning, faith, peace and ever-unfolding wisdom, each and everyday. ~Even when the going gets tough.

I encourage you to take some time over the upcoming months and intentionally prioritize one aspect of yourself each month (with tools, tips, and guidance from my experience):

September: Your Physical Body

October: Your Mind

November: Your emotional intelligence

December: Your Energy

If you focus your attention and intention, you’ll get to know parts of you hiding in plain sight. I want to help you create a foundational, personal practice that you can craft and curate, ongoing to grow with you and your ever evolving meaning.

The mission: Create discipline in connecting to your human potential with practical, realistic, reachable tools, and initiatives without over complicating yourself and your soul.

Curious what keeps me up at night? (not much, really; I sleep well and have for years- an important part of my clarity and intuition). I see the timelines play-out, as we enter the Age of Aquarius, the grave risk of losing our humanity to technology or allopathic solutions (easy way out; there’s a pill/quick fix or implant for everything) rather than leveraging our human intelligence, compassion and ability to adapt through love rather than fear; connection rather than separation. This is my why, my meaning.

September: Your body is your gateway to your “why”

My September focus (personally and as an offering for you) is the physical body and it’s biological intelligence. – How to intentionally nurture your body, ensuring you are responding with clarity in order for your mind-body connection to function more optimally. Sharpen your listening skills and you will attune to what your body is communicating to and for you.

One discipline I’ve prioritized for years now is my physical health and well-being. Caring for my body has been paramount in my lifestyle quest to experience overall wellness, sustainable energy, happiness, healing, spiritual awakening, intuitive clarity, and in being a better, more wholly-present human being {my identity}

I do this because I know when my body or my vessel is clean, clear, healthy, well-rested, well-watered, well-fed, well-moved, and well talked to, I show up more fully present and as a clear channel for client interactions {my work in the world or my vitality} and with the people I love and care about. It’s a non-negotiable for me.

Starting checkpoints:

  • Did I sleep well last night? The night before? {why or why not}

  • Did I drink ample water today? {why or why not}

  • Did I make healthy food choices today? {why or why not}

  • Did I engage in physical exercise or activity today {why or why not}

  • Did I “mostly” speak to myself (the voice in your head) in a healthy, dignified, respectful and compassionate manner today? This can be a tough one. {why or why not}

Clarification: The questions above are all privileges. ~having a safe place for sleep, clean water, access to nutrient-rich food sources, time & space to exercise. Recognize that. These privileges are things I regularly acknowledge and put on a gratitude list.  Also, be honest with the answers above and don’t shame yourself if you fall short. This is intended to help you get clear on simple ways to make profound impacts. Honesty without self-judgment is key. Show up willing. The rest will follow.

For the month of September, prioritize the Starting Checkpoints.

  1. Commit to 7-8 hours of restful sleep.

How do I apply this?

I GO TO SLEEP TIRED AND WAKE UP RESTED.

Intention: I crave and enjoy restful, rejuvenating sleep that revitalizes my body, enhances my overall well-being and optimizes my biological systems.

Most of us do not realize the inordinate amounts of tension and stress we physically consume due to the state of our planet and because life, in general on life’s terms is no joke! Our bodies physically take on our environments , interactions and a confluence of energies (information, technology, the pandemic, other people’s stuff, and the list goes on). Allowing your physical body and consciousness ample, intentional time to rejuvenate is imperative for overall optimal physical functioning.

I know this from personal experience. When I battled trauma and addiction, I went long periods without proper sleep and attempted to function {masquerading as a productive human}. In the end, it was crazy-making. Literally. I ended up experiencing a psychological breakdown, which is part of my story and why I cherish, and never discount restful sleep. I remember when I was about 5 days sober after getting a few night’s healthy, safe rest under my belt and recognizing how I began feeling and behaving like a functioning (not dis-functioning) human being again. Consistent, healthy sleep created personal and sustainable traction for me to want to heal, live and thrive. Seriously, good sleep is nothing to cut corners on.

Personal Practice: I talk to my Higher Power and Higher Self nearly every night as I drift off. Most of you know this if you’ve worked with me, however I have a personal communication ritual where I check in with My Divine and get clear about what my brain and body is marinating on and in before sleeping. Try it this month! Your body + spirit will thank you.

2. Commit to drinking at least 7-8 ounces of water daily.

How do I apply this?

WATER PURIFIES AND PERSONIFIES.

julia-zolotova-K2yKpyLMVOg-unsplash.jpg

Intention: I am thirsty for water and I’m grateful that it purifies, enhances and optimizes my overall physical well-being, clarity and sustainability.

Every now and then I drink a Diet Coke. I’m not perfect, I’m human, and I do honor some cravings, however, for the most part, I drink a lot of water. I listen to my body and recognize when I feel dehydrated, slow and foggy and it’s usually an indication that something (an autonomic system) is working overtime. So, I just add water. Water is a purifier and a conductor. The purer our internal fluids, the clearer and more enhanced our intuition, instincts, and functions are.

Personal Practice: I’ve added crystals to my drinking water or bath water long before there were crystal water bottles. Of course some crystals cannot go in the water you consume because of toxins, however, the vibration of water (just like anything) can be shifted. Taking kindly to your water or adding a few crystals can change its frequency and add extra support for whatever you’re personally focused on in your persona/spiritual development. Try it! Your body + spirit will thank you.

3. Commit to healthy, nutrient rich food choices.

How do I apply this?

WHEN I EAT BETTER, I FEEL BETTER, AND AM BETTER.

brooke-lark-nTZOILVZuOg-unsplash.jpg

Intention: I naturally crave high vibrational, nutrient rich foods that optimize my health, enhance my biological intelligence and support me in all aspects of my human being.

If you want to embrace a 30-day meal plan or dietary guidelines, go for it! Otherwise, just begin by committing to making healthy food choices and dropping off a couple of low-vibing ones. I listen to my body when it comes to food. It’s taken dedication, as I am an emotional eater and have struggled with disordered eating. I’m a total sugar-craver, however, when I eat foods with processed sugars, I feel lethargic, I don’t sleep well, and believe it or not, my psychic gifts can suffer (not as much anymore because nutrition is a lifestyle and my psychic gifts are highly developed). Early on, in the beginning of my personal/spiritual wholeness journey, I noticed that food affected my clarity, mood, and functionality. We can take Maya Angelou’s adage: “When you know better, you do better” and tweak it for food, “when you eat better, you feel better and are better, overall!”

Personal Practice: I honor and thank the food I eat for nourishing me and helping my body perform optimally (most of the time). Eating mindfully made a huge impact on me years ago in my yoga teacher training.  I learned to respect my food and the sources (wholeheartedly). Eat slower and mindfully. And, to be grateful, truly grateful for my access to healthy food.  Try it! Your body + spirit will thank you.

4. Commit to incorporating regular physical activity and movement (exercise).

How do I apply this?

MOVEMENT & PHYSICAL DETOX ARE A NON-NEGOTIABLE.

nate-johnston-2gBpsNuHcyA-unsplash.jpg

Intention: I get excited and energized in prioritizing physical exercise and movement during my week and recognize it’s optimal benefits in my overall attitude, outlook, and energy.

When I first got sober, years ago, regular physical exercise was imperative to getting-out the frustrations of the day, showing up for life a day at a time, and incorporating changes proficiently that were happening in my world. Before this time, I had exercised on and off, but once I began to realize that I physically needed to move the sh** out of my body to effectively process (physically, emotionally & mentally) outdated energies and toxins I made it a lifestyle choice. Mainly because I started seeing, feeling and experiencing a spiritual awakening through my physical body and making the mind-body connection.

Sidenote: Because of all the psychic work that I do on a daily basis with clients, I know that I must exercise or I end up physically drained, sick, frustrated/agitated, unclear and incapable of showing up with the highest integrity for each and every person I connect with.  Moving stagnant energy is a non-negotiable for me.

You do you: Physical exercise doesn’t have to be overwhelming or unreachable. Just do it. Move. Shake it out and off. Whatever works for you and your body, health, and environment.

Personal Practice: I have a combination of rigorous physical exercises (cardio), strength training and yoga that works for me. Fortunately, I’m married to someone who values physical well-being and is regimented in his work-out routine, in turn supporting me in exercise accountability. Finding someone to partner with or a tribe to create accountability with is super helpful. Choose (or intend to start) to surround yourself with people who are wellness like-minded and support your goals, dreams and vision in their physical health and beyond {my personal vision is supporting the evolution of humanity; lofty but honest, thus I created this on a practical level by prioritizing my human biology as a foundation}. In my experience, Personal Vision unveils itself through connection, not necessarily on your own. Try it! Your body + spirit will thank you.

5. Commit to talking-up and talking-to your body’s biology.

How do I apply this?

I TALK TO MY BODY, OFTEN.

Intention: I communicate with integrity to my body and my physiology, naturally expressing gratitude for its biological and divine brilliance.

I thank my biology for supporting me, especially my autonomic systems that function without me asking them to do so or having to control them. For that I show gratitude and amazement with my voice {my inspiration; truly, I’m inspired by human intelligence and potential}.

Personal Practice: I literally say: “Body, thank you for supporting me today, you’re brilliant, and I don’t take your ever-evolving intelligence for granted.” Try it! Your body + spirit will thank you.

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. This physical attention and intention about building foundational lifestyle tools and choices that will help you know yourself {my overall meaning is in showing up with integrity through my body, mind, emotions and soul}. The body may not seem radically interconnected with your spiritual experience and overall meaning, but I will say from personal practice and witnessing thousands of people prioritizing their physical health alongside other wellness practices, transformation, transmutation and transcendence does happen, by making one healthy choice at a time.

Spoiler Alert: In October, I’ll focus on mental health, mindfulness, neuroscience and all the tools and tips to up-level your inner voice and dialogue for optimal meaning and getting to know yourself better.
